Weight and Chronic Pain
When you experience pain daily it changes everything you do.
In people 18 years of age and older, nearly 225 million suffer pain in one of these categories (headaches, migraines, neck pain, back pain, facial and joint pain, etc) at any given point in time, usually lasting for weeks. Pain is a widespread and in many cases easily treated medical issue—although, for the 30 to 50 million people suffering with chronic pain, the struggle with pain and effective pain management is ongoing.
Your pain IS NOT a result of something that “just happened” to you.
I received an email recently from a woman who asked me to take a look at her 30 year old son’s blood work. She had taken him to an Urgent Care clinic because his ankles had swelled suddenly, within the past 10 hours, and his feet were in *pain*.
The Urgent Care clinic’s report states that he reported a longer history of pain, “at least the past 10 weeks in multiple sites,” and they ordered testing to rule out gout, rheumatoid arthritis, kidney failure, and risk of heart attack. It was reported that the son was overweight with a positive diagnosis for ANA antibodies (connective tissue disease) and frighteningly high C-Reactive Protein.
Acute pain is real.
My point is this: In this case I quickly determined that her son had been living with pain as a ‘normal’ condition of his existence, and also that something in his diet had caused his immune system to flare. His mother confirmed that his diet mostly consisted of junk food and that yes, because he was not working, he mostly lazed around.
Healing the Pain, Not Masking the Symptoms
Most doctors are trained to prescribe medications so that you can carry on as usual. Sad but true, with the insurance industry managing your care this is the level of treatment that is encouraged.
The 30 year old son I just mentioned above was referred to two separate Arthritis clinics and was given a prescription for steroid creams. Fortunately his mother knew better than to offer him such a depressing set of options, and she called me to come up with a program that would energize him and roll back the clock!
”Our approach involves uncovering underlying metabolic damage and imbalances in body chemistry through testing that is not generally available to you traditional doctor’s office.
At my clinic we apply unique testing to help identify what is causing pain and distress and resolve the issue using a blend of nutrition science and therapeutic strategies.
Nutrition Science:
- Comprehensive blood workup and testing to rule out blood sugar and adrenal problems, oxygenation and iron deficiency anemias, gut dysfunction, autoimmunity, metal toxicity, and more
- Dietary program that will reduce inflammation, relieve pain and begin to restore health
- Premier, physician grade nutritional products and formulas to correct metabolic pathways, triggers, and areas of dysfunction
Therapies:
- Complete structural and neurological examination. Pain signals comprise <10% of your central nervous system function. The remaining 90% is life-sustaining, which is the part we want to better understand.
- Brain-based Therapies, including exercise with oxygen therapy to create an oxygen-rich environment and stimulate healing.
- Functional neurology and adjustments to central nervous system and spine, including pain sites.
- Cerebellar rehabilitation and physical therapies to improve daily life.
